Solvay CEO Announces Retirement Date

Solvay SA’s board of directors announced Solvay CEO Christian Jourquin will end his tenure as chairman of the company’s executive committee and as a member of the board on May 10, 2012. As previously announced by the company, current deputy CEO Jean-Pierre Clamadieu will fill the role of CEO upon Jourquin’s May retirement.

Jourquin explained that his decision to retire was motivated by the progress achieved in the integration of Rhodia into the Solvay group in 2011. “I’m extremely pleased with the tempo of the integration and the fact that the assumptions considered at the time of the offer will be confirmed. The promises of success for the new group are remarkable, and I’m convinced that Jean-Pierre Clamadieu will make them come through in the best interest of all stakeholders,” said Jourquin.
