WPC Special Update: Emerald Kalama Unveils Kalama Methyl Benzoate

Emerald Kalama Chemical will be showcasing its new product, Kalama methyl benzoate, at Booth #628 of the World Perfumery Congress (WPC) in Deauville, France, June 10 – 12.

The group will also be featuring a wide range of other products in its full portfolio of aroma chemicals: Kalama HCA, amyl and methyl cinnamic aldehyde (ACA, MCA), benzaldehyde, benzyl alcohol, benzyl benzoate and C6, C8 and C10 linear aldehydes.

Kalama methyl benzoate is a new product based on non-phthalate benzoate chemistry used in personal care, fragrance and food and beverage applications. Methyl benzoate is known for its sweet, heady floral odor reminiscent of tropical flower varieties—with some balsamic or spicy undertones—and is used as a fragrance base in many personal care applications. Its use is increasing in applications such as shampoos, shower products and face/neck care. Other common personal care applications include body care, liquid soaps, hair colorants and cosmetics. In mouthwash, it serves as a flavoring adjuvant in addition to a fragrance ingredient. It is also used as a perfume base in fine fragrances, frequently in those perfumes containing tropical ylang-ylang flower notes, which is typical of many iconic fragrances.
