Mane's Sablé-sur-Sarthe Site Meets Highest BRC Standard

Mane SA said its Sablé-sur-Sarthe production site in France has recently been awarded British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification version 6 standard, the highest standard for its food safety systems.

The Sablé-sur-Sarthe site is entirely dedicated to the production of functional blends of flavors, ingredients and additives for the meat, fish, ready meals and snack industries. The company invested €7 million into a plant extension and new production unit to ensure strict cross contamination management. Using equipment from the pharmaceutical industry, Mane says, ensures the integrity of formulas, and no ingredient from one blend is transferred to another.

As early as January 2012, Mane introduced an action plan focusing on improved food safety to meet the BRC’s standards at its Sablé-sur-Sarthe production site. The plant is the third production site to obtain the BRC certification: both Le Bar-sur-Loup (dedicated to the production of ingredients, fragrances and sweet flavors) and Quéven (specializing in savory flavors production) are already BRC version 6 standard certified.

The Sablé-sur-Sarthe site, which has been ISO9001/2008 for seven years, has successfully undergone the BRC certification audit. The certification body (CMI) highlighted the following points as particularly positive during the audit such as equipment used in the two production units, knowledge and reactivity of production operators, and capability of the quality assurance department.

Mane said the successful certification of Sablé-sur-Sarthe enables the company to offer its functional and aromatic blends to new countries where the BRC standard is a prerequisite, such as the U.K. and Ireland.
