Givaudan has announced that it has completed the acquisition of Vika B.V., a deal which was proposed earlier this year. The acquisition will expand Givaudan's capabilities in the dairy and savory categories.

“Today is an exciting day for Givaudan and Vika as we join together and embark on a journey to provide our combined customers with a broader set of natural dairy and savory solutions. The addition of Vika’s products and talented employees will enhance our position as a leader in naturals,” said Gilles Andrier, CEO of Givaudan.

What It Brings to Givaudan

The 40-year-old company specializes in dairy ingredients, fonds, stocks, vegetable extracts and other specialty ingredients for ready-to-eat meals, soups, savory applications and dairy products. Vika B.V.'s employed over people throughout its facilities in Ede (The Netherlands), Higham Ferrers (United Kingdom), Maasmechelen (Belgium) and Auckland (New Zealand).

Looking to the Future

Though the terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, Vika’s business is estimated to be EUR 64 million. Givaudan achieved sales of CHF 4.7 billion in 2016.

“This acquisition is aligned with our ambition to support all food and beverage companies in developing great tasting products that align with consumer demands for clean label, organic and natural ingredients. Givaudan is committed to providing customers with a broader range of flavor and taste solutions ranging from traditional synthetic flavors to natural flavors and flavors from foodstuffs,” said Mauricio Graber, president of Givaudan’s flavour division.
