Allylix Receives Biotechnology Innovation Award

Allylix Inc. was presented with the Innovation Award from San Diego Business Journal in the biotechnology category at an awards ceremony held at Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, California.

The annual San Diego Business Journal Innovation Awards, with winners announced in the June 24 edition of the publication, seeks to honor and acknowledge the people and organizations that push boundaries and demonstrate how the innovative spirit drives economic value.

Allylix earned this honor for its proprietary yeast fermentation technology that allows the company to produce a wide range of specialty chemicals, including high-value, natural products called terpenes, at low cost and in sustainable commercial levels.

“We are honored to be recognized for innovation and leadership in the San Diego biotech community,” said Allylix CEO Carolyn Fritz. “Our technology was developed, in part, by researchers at San Diego’s Salk Institute, so we truly have local roots.”

Allylix’s fermentation platform technology can cost effectively produce flavors and fragrances, food ingredients, crop protection, urban pesticides, cosmetic chemicals, biocides, pharmaceuticals and other products. The company’s technology also enables the development of novel compounds.
