The Academy of Perfumery & Aromatics (ACADEPA) has announced that it has received the Internal Revenue Service’s official designation as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
The organization offers a variety of membership opportunities to individuals and corporations. Membership fees support ACAPEDA’s programs and are tax-deductible.
“This is a significant milestone for ACADEPA and my whole team of volunteers as it will enable us to move forward with our concerted efforts to raise sufficient funds to develop the organization’s ground-breaking vision," said Christophe Laudamiel, founder and president of the organization.
The Academy of Perfumery & Aromatics, which was founded in 2002 by Laudamiel, is dedicated to the intellectual and academic advancement of the art of perfumery and aromatics. Its mission is to introduce olfaction, scent history, scent design and culture into school and university curriculums as well as to the general public.
“Ultimately I would like some perfumers to enter academies of Art and Science around the world," Laudamiel explained.
In 2010 ACADEPA entered into an agreement with Osmothèque, the International Perfume Conservatory based in Versailles, to be its sole representative in the U.S. Osmothèque is a unique historical fragrance archive that preserves vulnerable fragrances. ACADEPA conducts lectures and interactive Osmothèque-based presentations for its members, the public and perfume industry professionals. The ACADEPA is also preparing an educational kit targeted to elementary schools, to launch this spring 2014.
