Symrise Works to Secure Menthol Supply

Symrise (Holzminden, Germany) is doubling its synthetic menthol manufacturing capacity at its Holzminden and Goose Creek, South Carolina sites by mid 2012. In its announcement, the company noted growing demand for menthol, which is key to its oral care, candy and chewing gum categories. As part of the expansion, the company has entered into closer collaboration with intermediates supplier Lanxess (Leverkusen, Germany).

Of the announcement, CEO Heinz-Jürgen Bertram said, “Symrise is already the global market leader in menthol production. The doubling of capacities sends a strong signal to our customers as we are further strengthening our competitiveness in this strategically important segment and we will further grow with menthols. Our customers will benefit from a secure supply of menthol and menthol-based flavors as well as an expanded product portfolio with new menthol properties."
