Frutarom (Haifa, Israel) has announced the opening of a new R&D facility in Switzerland. The facility, for which construction began 12 months ago, will be the center of innovation efforts for Frutarom’s flavors and fine ingredients in Europe. The goal for the center is to develop new flavors and food systems and products that fall under Frutarom’s fine ingredients division like herbal extracts and functional ingredients. At a total cost of approximately €3 million to date, the center has conference facilities, flavor creation and analysis centers, sensor technology and areas for ingredients to be tested out in applications such as beverages, baked goods and confectionary. In addition, the show kitchen will allow for Frutarom to collaborate with customers and demonstrate how its products can be used.
