Symrise Expands Flavor and Nutrition Activities in Russia/CIS
Posted: February 10, 2010
Targeting Russia and the adjacent Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Symrise (Holzminden, Germany) is boosting its flavor and nutrition activities, including a new plant at a former Aromaros-M Group site near Moscow. This 3,500-sq-m operation, which includes production and laboratory space, will initially concentrate on dry blends, beginning in the second half of 2010. The new facility will support marketing, sales, sensory and consumer insights activities previously established by Symrise in Russia. The company previously expanded its local development and application laboratories for beverages, sweets, savory and snack foods.
Of the move, Heinrich Schaper, president of flavor and nutrition in the EAME region, said, “The establishment of our own production facilities represents a logical step to further extend our leading market position in a strategic growth region. It underscores our alignment with key customers and our commitment to support them with a strong local presence. The establishment of a fully integrated facility in Russia enables us to service them faster and more directly, and it will provide an important advantage to our partners in our mutual drive for sustainable business growth.”
Symrise CEO Heinz-Juergen Bertram added, “This acquisition once again confirms our strategic focus on key emerging markets such as Russia and CIS. Symrise is already generating more than 40% of its global sales in these rapidly developing countries.”
