Givaudan Enters Partnership to Enhance Taste Research

Givaudan (Geneva) has formed an exclusive multi-year collaboration and licensing agreement with Redpoint Bio Corp. (formerly known as Linguagen) based in Cranbury, NJ. This partnership strengthens Givaudan’s global TasteSolutions for the health and wellness program, which helps product developers overcome the taste challenges associated with healthful product formulation. Redpoint Bio has been a pioneer in taste biotechnology. The collaboration will utilize Redpoint Bio’s proprietary in vitro biochemical assays in vivo validation techniques, to discover and develop novel sweetness and savory enhancers, as well as bitter blockers. Givaudan will have exclusive worldwide rights to any licensed compounds for food and beverage products.

Of the partnership, Givaudan’s global head of R&D Bob Eilerman said, “Our relationship with [Redpoint Bio] is a perfect strategic fit and should impact the taste challenges faced by the food and beverage industry.
