PureCircle’s Sales Increase 76% for FY 2009

PureCircle has reported sales totaling $60 million for the financial year ended June 30, 2009 (2008: $34 million), and a net profit of $11 million (2008: $2.1 million). Over the past year, the company has quadrupled its stevia extract capacity and gained regulatory clearances in the United States, Switzerland, Russia, Australia and France for Reb A.

According to Paul Selway-Swift, chairman of PureCircle, “This was a transformational year for the natural high intensity sweetener (NHIS) market and for PureCircle … over the past year nearly all major global Food & Beverage companies have engaged with us on how best to exploit the potential of NHIS ingredients for their businesses.” However, while the company sees a clear establishment of the NHIS market, it does not expect a significant roll-out of new launches and categories of products using Reb A, until 2010.
