Symrise Assists in Earthquake Relief

Symrise has donated €50,000, in order to fund the building of a school in the earthquake-stricken region in China. Symrise’s “School of Hope” will offer 20 classrooms and space for 500 students and will be used for roughly two to five years until Chinese authorities have built official school buildings again. To ensure that the project proceeds smoothly, Symrise will be working on site with the NGO China Youth and Development Fund.

Another fund drive among Symrise employees in China, Singapore and Indonesia has raised an additional €13,000, which will go to Project Hope Disaster Relief. This program provides local support for victims and survivors of the earthquake.

Of the donation, Symrise regional president of the scent and care division (Asia Pacific) Thomas Dressler said, “China is more than just one of our most important markets—it’s much more than that. Our clients and all of the people here have always been extremely accommodating and have treated us with openness and respect. Now we have a chance to give something back.”
