Firmenich Opens Indonesia Flavor Facility

Firmenich celebrated the official groundbreaking ceremony for a new flavor production facility in the Karawang International Industrial City, near Jakarta, Indonesia. The facility, which will be dedicated to the production of Firmenich’s Durarome encapsulation technology, is expected to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2013 and represents an investment of $25 million.

The new production facility supports the company’s global strategy to increase its operations in the growth markets of Southeast Asia. Through this expanded local presence, Firmenich aims to strengthen its market leadership in the Durarome flavor encapsulation technology and to advance its science further to meet the needs of both the Indonesian domestic market and of the rest of Southeast Asia.

“While Firmenich has been present in Indonesia since 1994, this is the first country after the Americas where we have established a production facility for our unique Durarome encapsulation technology,” said Aldo Uva, Firmenich’s flavors division president. “With this strengthened operating capacity in Indonesia, we aim to deliver superior service to our clients locally and across Southeast Asia as well as to expand our market reach throughout this growing region.”
