Arylessence recently designed an orange blossom fragrance celebrating the state of Florida for the Congressional Club’s annual First Lady’s Luncheon, held this spring in Washington, D.C. At the event, nearly 2,000 guests welcomed and honored the nation’s First Lady Michelle Obama.
The fragrance was created for Janet Westling of Fragrances of Florida. “I wanted a fruity floral fragrance that captured the essence of the Sunshine State,” said Westling. “The fragrance we named La Florida does that beautifully with sweet notes of orange blossom, mango, jasmine and just a hint of sea breeze.”
Built around orange blossom, Florida’s official state flower, La Florida was designed by perfumer Monica Aneiros-Burke, a long-time Florida resident of Cuban heritage. “This is a fragrance for a very special occasion,” said Aneiros-Burke. “I wanted it to say everything I love about Florida with sweet citrus, mango and peach notes opening to a floral heart of orange blossom and jasmine, freshened with ozone sea breeze and soft dune grass over a base of salted driftwood, acquatic amber and white musk. It’s lively, breezy and evokes the Florida sun, sea, and fragrant fruits and flowers.”
