Purchasing Manager for Sozio

Fragrance provider Sozio is currently searching for a purchasing manager to work in its New Jersey location. Job functions and required skills include:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities.
  • Analyze all the indicators of the purchasing department on a regular basis. Redefining, adapting, minimum inventory, quantities of replenishment ... depending on the strategic and economic issues
  • Having an olfactive knowledge of synthetic and especially natural raw materials would be a plus.
  • Authorize payment of invoices or return of merchandise and work closely with suppliers to obtain and develop desired products.
  • Arrange local inbound transportation, negotiate/confirm freight costs for final delivery of goods and coordinate with local importing/ exporting broker/ agent as required for goods delivery/ receipt.
  • Work with the freight forwarder to make ocean bookings, oversee all export documentation and work with affected parties to resolve shipment issues.
  • Create and regularly generate purchasing reports; Price Trend Report, Price Lists and Material Shortage, On Time Delivery
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable new goods or services with users, vendors and others to determine cause of problem and take corrective and preventative action.
  • Manage vendor relationships and assist in building effective partnerships.
  • Use purchasing metrics to develop suppliers and maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Works with sales and service to accurately develop purchasing forecast for long term contracts and sales incentive programs.
  • Support new product development projects.
  • Forecast upcoming demand, track status of on-going purchasing activities, Issuing bid packages to Vendors, manage storage and inventory.
  • System Entry for RFQ and Purchase Orders.
  • Track and report supplier responsiveness on RFQs and other KPIs as needed.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Minimum five years procurement/ purchasing raw material experience required.
  • Manufacturing plant environment experience preferred.
  • International sourcing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of supply chain, strategic sourcing, negotiations and contracting concepts.
  • Any work experience with international manufacturer will be a plus.
  • Supplier development and negotiations skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and on cross-functional teams.
  • Commodity Management, Contract management, Project Management.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • MS Office: Excel, Word, PPT.

In this role, you will successfully develop and apply savory flavors/seasonings to food products leading to new business for Aromsa. Support and lead reactive customer briefs, proactive category initiatives and R&D new technology evaluations and testing.
