Reporting to the General Manager and Technical Director, responsibilities of the position would include, but are not limited to:

  • Respond to client requests related to the creation of new flavours;
  • Respond to client requests related to finished products requiring modifications;
  • Develop, create or modify flavour formulations;
  • Develop application recipes using flavours, as required;
  • Provide required support to the QA/QC team to resolve internal or external non-conformities;
  • Provide support to the sales team and clients, as required;
  • Perform all other related technical tasks.

    The ideal candidate would have a Bachelor degree in Science preferably in Flavor Science, Food Chemistry, Food Technology or related scientific field, at least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, knowledge of good manufacturing practices in the food industry, knowledge of occupational safety and health standards and computer knowledge and skills (MS Office suite).


    An English speaker or preferably a bilingual German / English individual (knowledge of French is also an asset), the candidate can effectively manage priorities, solve problems and work under pressure. He/She is autonomous and organized, critical and analytical and work efficiently in a team. Excellent communication skills are also required.

As a Senior Flavorist you will provide your expertise, creativity and technical direction for successful implementation of global and innovative projects. Specific responsibilities:

  • Develop new and modify existing cigarette and RRP’s flavor systems for use in various markets around the world
  • Understand implications of the flavor design on flavor release technologies and the entire product and manufacturing system, to deliver innovation with a total system mindset
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to evaluate new raw materials and technologies for flavor creation purposes
  • Participate in and coordinate sensory evaluation panels, and utilize the data from the panel evaluations to improve/modify cigarette flavor systems
  • Ensure development of product specifications for the cigarette and RRP’s flavor systems, and sensory quality within those specifications
  • Work with Procurement and Material Qualification teams to ensure the quality of the ingredients and finished flavors
  • Conduct the flavor creation and development activities in total alignment with the appropriate Regulations, procedures and quality standards

Overview: On-Board Services is assisting a Flavors Market Producer with a search for a Senior Flavorist with “Hands-On” Citrus Flavor development experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct citrus flavor and technology development
  • Participate in development programs for both trainee & associate citrus Flavorists.
  • Develop and support manufacture of salable citrus flavors
  • Manage and execute training and guidance to Associate Citrus Flavorists and Lab Staff
  • Anticipate, investigate and resolve problems with raw materials and finished goods as needed by technically partnering with vendors
  • Participate directly and provide cross-functional leadership within global citrus teams in strategic categories
  • Understand regional taste differences and preferences. Use this knowledge to guide new ingredient and technology delivery for citrus.

Required Skills:

  • Four Year Degree/ (BS/BA in biological or chemical science preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in flavor industry creative function (entry level through Flavorist).
  • Completed qualifying Flavorist training Program and/or proven track record at equivalent level with competitor.
  • Certified Member of the Flavor Chemist Society with proven track record at equivalent level with competitor.
  • Fluent in English. Additional languages highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, computer and math skills.
  • At least 10 years Flavorist experience.
  • MS/PHD in biological or chemical sciences.
  • Proven artistic ability. Presentation skills, project management skills.
  • Proven successful mentoring of Flavorists from trainee level to Flavorist.

Manufacturing Technology Partner for Fragrance & Flavour Sector

Office of the Development Commissioner (MSME), Ministry of MSME, Government of India is in the process of upgrading and expanding the network of Technology Centres (TCs) - also referred to as Tool Rooms & Technology Development Centres by upgrading existing TCs and establishing 15 New TCs under the Technology Centre Systems Programme (TCSP). The TCs are to be located in various parts of the country to cater to the needs of micro, small & medium enterprises through access to technology, skill development, consultancy etc.

The Ministry is seeking to appoint Manufacturing Technology Partners for Fragrance and Flavour sector who can support the Indian MSME’s in acquiring globally competitive technologies, processes and skills.
