Key Responsibilities

The Fragrance Development Manager (FDM) is responsible for leading the function of developing and maintaining the fragrance library, developing creative strategies and driving large customer projects. He/she has to set the organizational and cross functional structure for this necessity.

  • Managing the fragrance portfolio
  • Responsible for driving and executing olfactive strategy to support the company strategy
  • Working closely with perfumers to facilitate the process of developing winning fragrances
  • Providing market product knowledge, olfactive guidance and sources of inspiration to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring that all aspects of related projects are coordinated to meet deadlines and budget
  • Building up fragrance knowledge by studying new market product launches

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelors degree, preferably in chemistry, marketing or biology (ISIPCA or equivalent perfumery education is a plus).
  • Very good olfactive capabilities
  • Wide industry experience in a multinational environment for various fragrance segments (fine fragrance, personal care, home care etc.)
  • Good management and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be able to effectively present information to an individual or group. English a must.
  • Must be detail oriented and a team player.

    Who you’ll need to be

    You’ll have a true passion for essential oil buying with at least 2 years experience coupled with a real understanding of our company ethics, campaigns and SLUSH fund. You’ll be an analytical and creative thinker, with ability to support our SLUSH funded projects, so an interest and understanding of permaculture principles and practices would be advantageous. We’ll be looking for demonstrable experience in how you can influence and negotiate. Plus you’ll need to be a self-starter with a proactive nature and want to take ownership of projects with a drive to learn and succeed.

To succeed, you’ll need expertise in GC, HPLC, and GCMS analysis of essential oils and flavor chemicals; strong leadership, and effective written & verbal communication skills. The ability to lead, develop and motivate staff, recognize trends in quality that impact, supplier, or operational performance, determine priorities, develop action plans, organize resources, and manage projects are all a must.

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or related discipline; 3+ years of supervisory experience in a flavor QC, Analytical or Research Lab; Proficiency in SAP, Word, Excel, Power Point and knowledge of ISO-9001-2000, HACCP, Food Safety and GMP are required. Experience with Chromeleon software is a plus.
