Symrise Launches Laundry Perfume Oils Well-suited for Detergents

Microencapsulated perfume oils had previously been the domain of fabric softeners, but Symrise AG has now launched micro-encapsulated perfume oils used to keep laundry fresh for months which are well-suited to liquid detergents.

Manufacturers of cleaning agents can expand their product portfolios with new liquid detergents now that Symrise has launched SymCap K LD. According to Symrise, SymCap K LD securely encloses the fragrance and releases it onto the fabric through friction or light pressure even months later "even after spending months in the closet," the company added. 

SymCap K LD, which complements the portfolio of the company's SymCap M product series, has microcapsules which the company said can make it through the washing and drying process without losing their freshening effect. Symrise’s microencapsulated perfume oils remain stable in the bottle for one year under normal household storage conditions. Symrise is also supporting its customers who want to develop new formulas for detergents with microcapsules.

“The market for liquid detergents is seeing dynamic growth,” said Wolfgang Blume, vice president sales, Central & Eastern Europe S&C at Symrise. “We look forward to additional possibilities in the area of household cleaning agents and personal care products. We are currently reviewing how we can transfer this technology to these application areas.”

In brief, Symrise states that the "five-in-one-freshness advantage for consumers" offers "fresh fragrance with just a light touch, freshness that lasts for months, freshness even after drying, creative possibilities for fresh fragrance notes and [is] stable in the packaging for over one year."

Torsten Kulke, vice president global innovation fragrance & oral care at Symrise, added: “SymCap K LD represents a real benefit for consumers. Our new microcapsules were developed in collaboration with our open innovation network. In this way, we can bring innovative products to the market at a much faster rate.”
