This invention relates to a mixture containing or mainly consisting of a first compound, (alpha,alpha-(4aR,5R,7aS,9R)-octahydro-2,2,5,8,8,9a-hexamethyl-4H-4a,9-methanoazuleno(5,6-d)-1,3-dioxole), also known as Ambrocenide, and a second compound, (beta,beta-(4aR,5R,7aS,9R)-octahydro-2,2,5,8,8,9a-hexamethyl-4H-4a,9-methanoazuleno(5,6-d)-1,3-dioxole).

The weight ratio of the first compound to the second is in the range from 90:10 to 99:1. This patent application further relates to a method for producing said mixture and its use for masking or reducing unpleasant olfactory sensations or enhancing pleasant aromas.
