Maverick: Market Interest Growing in Fruit Flavors, Nut-Free Nut Flavors

Fruit flavors and nut-free nut flavors are among the flavor trends that are especially well-received right now in the U.S. market, according to Maverick Innovations.

The company has unveiled a nut-free nut flavors line which includes Nut Free Peanut, Nut Free Hazelnut, Nut Free Pistachio, Nut Free Almond and Nut Free Pecan. Meanwhile, the company’s new “Flavour with Provenance” range includes an array of specific provenance flavors: Florida Orange, Scottish Raspberry, English Blackcurrant, Sicilian Lemon, Ecuadorian Passion Fruit, Tahitian Vanilla Extract, Brazilian Lime and American Niagara Grape.

Flavors with heating and cooling effects such as "Fire and Ice" also have proved to be very popular, according to Melanie Evans, technical & creative director of Maverick Innovations. “These demonstrate an initial heat followed by a cooling back note to enhance the various flavors,” said Evans.

Maverick Innovations also offers a collection of other specialist flavor ranges: Rose and Lavender; Mint Humbugs and Cola Bottles; the Oriental Express, which includes Ginger and Szechuan Pepper and Chocolate; the Great British Orchard; The Christmas Collection; and a “Free From” range, including various nut-themed products.

A number of traditional English pudding flavors, that are already proving a hit with British retailers, will also be making their way across the pond. The new range of “Pudding Club” flavors are inspired by quintessentially English dishes such as Eton Mess, Banana and Custard, Apple Pie, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Lemon Meringue Pie and Strawberry Cheesecake.
