Latest Food Chemicals Codex Launched

The US Pharmacopeia has released the latest edition of the Food Chemicals Codex (FCC). The new edition, the sixth since 1966, is the first not to be produced by the Institute of Medicine. It contains more than 1,000 monograph standards and tests for identity, quality and purity of food ingredients, including flavors. In a break from the previous system, new editions will be issued biannually, with an annual supplement provided in by-years. FCC is encouraging revision proposals via its site at www.usp.org/fcc/forum.
