The European Commission's "No 1321/2013 of 10 December 2013" is now available. The legislation lists 10 smoke flavorings that can be used in food, and their conditions of use. These materials have undergone safety evaluations by the European Food Safety Authority.
The legislation, covering the use of smoke flavorings, will apply January 1, 2014, though manufacturers have until January 1, 2015, to comply.
