FAS Seminar on WTO Trade Barriers

On Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m., the Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS) is sponsoring a seminar entitled: "Understanding and Applying the World Trade Organization (WTO) Technical Barriers to Trade Agreement (TBT) to Food and Agricultural Products." The seminar is being held at the US Department of Agriculture in Room 107A of the Whitten Building.

The purpose of the seminar is to provide an understanding of the WTO TBT Agreement and its main provisions with case studies illustrating key obligations and information on conformity assessment systems, regulations and standards and their applications to food and agricultural products. The event is primarily intended to train US regulatory personnel on the intricacies of the TBT Agreement and how to apply the agreement to agricultural issues.
