ECHA to Check REACH Dossiers for Completeness

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has announced it will conduct a completeness check of registration dossiers under REACH within three weeks of their submission. According to ECHA, if the registration dossier is incomplete and/or the fee payment is missing, the agency will inform the registrant, within the given deadline, as to what further information is required to make the registration complete.

During the completeness check, ECHA will verify the presence of a testing proposal, where relevant, and ensure the dossiers submitted to the agency are in compliance with REACH.

The European Commission also intends to carefully monitor the implementation of REACH with respect to nanomaterials. According to Commission officials, based on information regarding production and marketing or new knowledge regarding toxicological or physical-chemical properties, current provisions, including quantitative triggers and information requirements may have to be modified.
