Ice cream brand Halo Top will launch seven new flavors in early February 2018.

Non-Dairy Gets Flavorful

Made with coconut milk instead of dairy milk, the ice cream products claim lower calories and fat content from regular dairy ice cream. The expanded non-dairy portfolio will now include Pancakes & Waffles, Birthday Cake, Candy Bar, Chocolate Almond Crunch, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Toasted Coconut, and Vanilla Maple flavors.

“When we launched our original line of non-dairy flavors, we knew we wanted to expand to include even more indulgent options,” said Justin Woolverton, Halo Top CEO and founder. “We know our fans look to us for variety and creativity in our flavors, and we want to make sure we always address those requests for our dairy-averse and vegan fans as well.”

Market Meltdown?

The expanded Halo Top product portfolio comes out at a time of increased interest in the non-dairy milk market. According to a recent Mintel report, the non-dairy milk market was estimated to be worth $2.11 billion in 2017, with product innovation leading the growth.

Though the non-dairy milk market is moving, the non-dairy ice cream market is seeing signs of a struggle. According to a Mintel report, the non-dairy ice cream and yogurt market have slipped 10% in the last two years. Though consumers are increasingly interested in healthy and better-for-you products, only 11% of U.S. consumers cut back on ice cream due to health concerns. As this dynamic develops, innovations in flavor and formulation to the non-dairy ice cream market should emerge.
