IFEAT Happenings

The IFEAT Conference 2006 kicked off yesterday in Cape Town, South Africa. To welcome the more than 600 attendees, a welcome cocktail reception was held Monday night at the ArabellaSheraton Hotel with native dancers performing. Today, session one got under way with an opening address by Martin Gill (chairman of the conference organizing committee). Speakers such as Peter Greenhalgh, Dominique Roques (Biolandes) and Nassib Omar (Zanzibar State Trading Corporation) spoke on the production in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean. Session two began after 11:00 AM with speakers discussing regional production reviews. Thierry Duclos (Duclos Trading) explored the Ivory Coast's essential oil industry, while Clive Teubes (Clive Teubes CC) reviewed South Africa's citrus oil industry.

Tomorrow (Wednesday, November 29) presentations will focus on specific region markets and individual oils of the region. Stay tuned for daily reports!
