Event Snapshot: FMA 5th Annual Spring Reception & Dinner

The Fragrance Materials Association held its Fifth Annual Spring Reception and Dinner on April 25. Over 250 fragrance industry professionals were in attendance at The Wilshire Grand Hotel. First to be recognized that evening was Rahman Ansari (longtime Quest employee, now with Givaudan). Ansari accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award and thanked his many peers and family for allowing him to participate in an industry he loves so much. 

Receiving the Eric Bruell Distinguished Service Award for 2007 was Kenneth Wessel (Wessel Fragrances). Wessel, a board member of the International Fragrance Association (IFRA), the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM), and the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CTFA), thanked Eric Bruell and Steven Manheimer in his acceptance speech. The Eric Bruell Award was created in 1992 to recognize individuals for a lifetime of leadership, service and support in the fragrance industry.

Stephen Hicks served as the keynote speaker for the night. Hicks is director of R&D for Procter & Gamble’s global flavor and fragrance division. Hicks discussed how the flavor and fragrance industry adds great value to his industry..
