Industry Snapshot: All in the Family

The industry gathered to honor two of its legends—who happen to be married—during the International Fragrance Association North America (IFRANA) spring dinner at New Jersey’s Westmount Country Club. In welcoming attendees, IFRANA president Kim Bleimann (Berjé) emphasized the role of family companies in the flavor and fragrance industry.

Bob Bedoukian praised the Eric Bruell Distinguished Service Award recipient Stephen Manheimer (Kerry Ingredients & Flavours) for his vision and impact on the industry and called him “a legend and a wise friend.” Manheimer said that the industry is a family in itself, which requires a passion to link customers, suppliers and nature to support brands. The ultimate goal, he said, is to keep the industry healthy.

Jean-Paul Benveniste (Phoenix Aromas & Essential Oils) introduced Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Laure Moutet, invoking her special relationship with his father and her mentor, Ben Benveniste. Moutet provided a brief, but lively history of her career from JPM Imports to Manheimer to Kerry and underscored the ongoing fi ght to defend the fragrance industry.
