IFRA United Kingdom (IFRA UK) has announced it is holding a one-day symposium, the IFRA United Kingdom Fragrance Forum, on October 12, 2011 at the Royal Society of Chemistry. The event, which is by invitation-only, will host members of IFRA UK and industry stakeholders, including senior personnel from other trade associations, perfumers and academics.
Speakers will include Hugo Bovill of Earthoil/Treatt plc, Charles Sell of Givaudan and perfumer Christophe Laudamiel, each of whom will be discussing natural and synthetic fragrance ingredients; Matthias Vey and Stephen Weller, both from IFRA (global) will talk about safety and the role of IFRA in the industry; and Tim Jacob of the University of Cardiff, Jan Havlí?ek of Charles University, Prague and Lizzie Ostrom of Scratch + Sniff will present on the benefits of fragrance in people’s lives. These forum sessions are chaired by Tony Dallimore of Phoenix Fragrances and chairman of IFRA UK; Lisa Hipgrave, director of IFRA UK; and Neil Weaver of Seven Scent and IFRA UK’s vice chairman.
Other speakers will examine the relationship between body odor and fragrance, the development and use of fragrance molecules (both natural and synthetic), and sustainability in fragrance ingredient sourcing.
Of the event, Hipgrave says, “We were keen to mark the occasion of our change of name from the British Fragrance Association to IFRA United Kingdom at the start of this year. By staging this one-day symposium together with our AGM, this important milestone in the association’s development is being marked by what promises to be a stimulating, informative, controversial and entertaining day.”
