Abstract: Recent regulatory notes from the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association's government relations and international regulatory affairs committees
P&F would like to thank the participants in FEMA’s government relations and international regulatory affairs committees for their efforts in gathering and reporting on these disparate global F&F regulatory updates.
The Fragrance Materials Association of the United States has dissolved its international relations committee in a bid to reduce redundancies. The body has been folded into the FMA scientifi c affairs committee. Further, the organization has formed a government relations advisory committee.
US State Matters
• The FEMA government relations committee has reported that California’s failed cosmetic ingredient disclosure legislation — which, according to The Roberts Group’s John Cox, “would have required disclosure of some fl avor and fragrance ingredients in cosmetic and oral care products,” — will inevitably return in 2005, covering several products that contain fl avors/fragrances — toothpaste, mouthwash, lip balm, etc. To date, a biomonitoring advisory committee has been re-proposed by Sacramento Senator Deborah Ortiz.
